A CBCC platform for social & behaviour change

Audio, video and graphics — offline, in every vernacular, with proof of every play.

DigiFahamu is a platform — mobile apps, a web app and the back-end infrastructure behind them — that disseminates audio, video and graphics in an intuitive way. Content is downloaded for offline access so it works in remote areas with no network, displays in any vernacular you configure so it stays intuitive where literacy is low, and records usage statistics on every message played as evidence of reach.

  • Intuitive audio, video & graphics dissemination
  • Downloaded for offline access — no network needed
  • Any vernacular you configure, built for low literacy
  • Statistics on every message played, as evidence

The platform

What DigiFahamu is

DigiFahamu is a platform, not a single app. Mobile apps, a web app and the back-end infrastructure behind them work together to disseminate audio, video and graphic content to communities that are hard to reach — and to prove that the content actually reached them.

Programme teams publish once from the web back end. Field audiences receive it on apps designed for low-end phones, in the language they speak, available whether or not there is network coverage. Every play is counted and reported back.

Core capabilities

Four things DigiFahamu does that ordinary content platforms do not

01

Disseminates audio, visuals and graphics in an intuitive mobile app

Publish audio messages, videos, graphics, images and documents from one dashboard, structured into topics and subtopics. On the phone they appear as large, icon-led tiles that a first-time smartphone user can navigate without instruction — tap a picture, hear the message.

  • Audio & video
  • Graphics & images
  • Topic structure

02

Content is downloaded for offline access — so it works in remote areas with no network

Users download content once, wherever a signal exists, and it stays on the device. From then on the app plays with the network switched off entirely — in villages, farms, clinics and camps with no coverage. Usage recorded offline is stored locally and syncs automatically when the device next comes online, so no play is ever lost.

  • Full offline playback
  • Zero data while playing
  • Deferred sync

03

Displays content in native language and vernacular, where literacy matters

There is no fixed language list. You add whatever languages and vernaculars your programme needs — including minority and unwritten ones — and publish the same message in each. Every language carries a recording of its own name, so users who cannot read the list still choose theirs by listening. Because the experience is audio-first and icon-led rather than text-heavy, it stays intuitive for people with low literacy and for audiences who are not digitally privileged.

  • Unlimited languages
  • Audio-first design
  • Low-literacy friendly

04

Collects usage statistics on every message played — as evidence

Every single play is logged: which message, in which language, on which device, where and when. That turns "we distributed content" into a defensible record of reach and engagement — the evidence donors, ministries and evaluators ask for, exportable at any time.

  • Per-message logs
  • Geo & time stamped
  • Exportable evidence

Evidence, not estimates

Every message played is counted, located and dated

Most campaigns report what was distributed. DigiFahamu reports what was actually consumed — message by message — so your monitoring and evaluation rests on records, not assumptions.

How it works

From publishing to proof in four steps

  1. 01

    Upload & organise

Load audio, video, graphics and documents into topics and subtopics on the web dashboard.

  2. 02

    Publish per language

Attach native-language versions of each message so audiences choose the one they speak.

  3. 03

    Download & play offline

Field users download once, then play anywhere — including areas with no network at all.

  4. 04

    Measure & report

Every play syncs back into dashboards and exports you can put in front of a donor.

Who it's for

Built for organisations that must reach people and prove it

NGOs & donors

Deliver behaviour-change campaigns and report verifiable reach against grant commitments.

Government & ministries

Push public information to counties and villages in the languages citizens use.

Agriculture & extension

Get advisory content to farmers on-farm, offline, and see which advice was consumed.

Health programmes

Equip community health workers with counselling material they can play in the field.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear most

What is DigiFahamu?

DigiFahamu is a platform rather than a single application. It comprises mobile apps for Android and iOS, a web app, a content management and publishing back end, analytics and evidence dashboards, feedback and chatbot channels, learning modules, and the synchronisation infrastructure that makes offline use possible. Together these disseminate audio, video and graphic content in an intuitive way, make it available offline, present it in any vernacular, and record usage statistics on every message played as evidence of reach.

Does it work without internet or network coverage?

Yes. Content is downloaded to the device once and can then be played in remote areas with no network access at all. Usage recorded while offline is stored on the device and syncs automatically the next time connectivity is available, so nothing is lost.

Which languages and vernaculars does it support?

Every vernacular. There is no fixed or pre-set list — languages are fully customisable, so you add whatever your communities speak, including minority and unwritten vernaculars, and publish the same message in each. Each language can carry a recording of its own name, so users who cannot read still pick theirs by listening. The interface is icon-led and audio-first, so it remains intuitive where literacy is limited and for audiences who are not digitally privileged.

How does it prove that content actually reached people?

DigiFahamu collects usage statistics on every message played — which message, in which language, on which device, where and when. Those records are exportable as evidence of reach and engagement for donor, ministry and programme reporting.

What devices does it run on?

Android and iOS phones — including low-end handsets — plus a web app that runs on laptops and desktops for programme teams.

Can audiences respond or ask questions?

Yes. Feedback, questions, complaints, compliments and support requests can be submitted from inside the app and are captured alongside the usage record.
